Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer

ColdSpark seeks an exceptional Sr. Software Quality Assurance Engineer with a desire to work on cutting-edge infrastructure applications deployed by Fortune 500 companies. We are looking for well-rounded Sr. SQA Engineers with excellent logic and problem solving skills, able to demonstrate subject-matter expertise, and have a drive to make a difference in the state of the art. You will be working closely with a tight development team to create high-performance enterprise server applications.

  • Must be self-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities and tasks as delegated to ensure the level of quality expected from a 99.999 application.
  • Serve as liaison between technical and non-technical departments
  • Communicate with management, developers, product managers and technical support specialists on product issues
  • Must be a team-player with the ability to work within a collaborative environment
  • Work closely with Development to verify that the products work as designed


Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience is acceptable
  • 8+ years proven work experience in software quality with a primary focus in the following areas:
    • Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking
    • Working knowledge of Routing, DNS, SMTP and SSH
    • Working knowledge of SQL or MySQL Oracle
    • Working knowledge of Linux (BSD, Solaris, or other *UNIX-like OS)
    • Working knowledge of Windows NT/2003/XP
  • Must be creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems
  • Must be collaborative in driving decisions regarding Software Quality
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Strong ability in creating test plans and in test/design and development
  • Ability to work with Product Development to verify that the products work as designed
  • Ability to deal with multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to develop test cases as needed for new functionality and regression testing.
  • Ability to ensure that all issues found are reported in the defect tracking system with the level of detail needed for development to diagnose appropriately
  • Ability to maintain and run automated and ad hoc tests and report the results.
  • Ability to work with Customer Support to research and reproduce customer issues and create test cases for those issues.
  • Maintain the test lab / test environment and verify adherence to standards.
  • Optional requirements:
  • Working knowledge in the area of Agile/Scrum Development/QA practices
  • Experience testing multi-threaded applications
  • Experience with multiple MTA's (Exchange, Sendmail, PostFix, Exim, etc)
  • Experience testing SMTP in a lab environment
  • Working knowledge using:
    • Python, Perl, Bash
    • Java, JUnit, Subversion
